"the advice that I'd give to a real estate agent that's thinking about giving up a real estate salesperson is, firstly not everyone is suited for real estate it is somewhat of a tough gig. approximate 85% of people that start real estate sales give up in the first two years.

Real estate is like a plane or train, it uses a lot of energy at the start to launch, but then once you know the plane gets off the ground and it gets up to certain altitude, it goes on cruise control. Real estate careers are like that as well, you use a lot of your petrol, your fuel at the very start of your career, and then you hit cruise control and you can really make a decent living quite comfortably, but you need to get off the ground. You need to get out of the airport first which takes so much energy.

Look, real estate is not for everyone, you need to be thick skinned, you need to be resilient, try fail, try fail, try again, fail and true failure is when you stop trying. So you just have to get back up on that bike, you jump back on that horse and keep giving it a crack.

I think there's a bit of a formula to real estate success, it’s prospecting plus marketing plus training times two years. So if you are prospecting your butt off, plus you're doing marketing everywhere, letter box drops, car signage, sponsorships, billboards plus training and daily
training scripts and dialogues, and you do this for two years then really it’s impossible to fail.

It actually is impossible to fail but you need to hang on for two years, and that's why five percent of people quit within the first two years because they didn't hang on to that two years. Most people in real estate are successful not because they're talented or brilliant but they just have longevity in their business, they've been in the business for such a long time that they started to get referrals and repeat business etc etc.

So look, the advice that I can give to someone is do the prospecting plus marketing plus training and don't for two years, if that doesn't work and do it really really hard like, give it everything, drop everything, don't go out, sacrifice everything, make it your life, make it your way of life, make it your lifestyle, and if after two years it doesn't work, then maybe real estate isn't for you.

But really, I think if you follow the formula everyone succeeds so yeah, give a good shot".
